Integrating the best practices in Information Technology (IT) into its framework, the Hewlett-Packard (HP) Company Hong Kong recently completed a course on the fundamental concepts of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) for Development (CMMI-DEV), a tool that helps organizations improve their ability to develop and maintain quality products and services.
The three-day course, led by no other than SQME Professionals and BPSource CEO, Joselyn Capistrano, introduced the participants to various discipline-specific process improvement models, particularly in systems engineering and software engineering.
Regarded as an essential guide for project managers, software engineers and testers, the workshop helped the participants understand the detailed requirements of the process areas in the CMMI framework, make valid judgements regarding HP’s implementation of their processes areas, and to identify issues that should be addressed in performing process improvements using CMMI.
“CMMI provides a clear definition of what organizations should do to achieve optimum performance for the delivery of great products and services. It helps them create consistent and uniform processes with respect to their process implementation,” explained Capistrano.
Recognized as the only Filipina with a CMMI license to be a Lead Appraiser in the Philippines, Capistrano is a process improvement guru with more than twenty years of work experience with multinational companies, such as IBM, Citibank, HP, Accenture, and Fujitsu.
